Directions to Wat Thamkrabok

Wat Thamkrabok is open to the public, except during Tudong, and visitors are welcome.    All visitors to Thamkrabok should observe and respect the Five Precepts during their stay.  It is appreciated if groups can advise the Temple in advance of their arrival.

Directions from Suvarnabhumi (BKK) Bangkok International Airport:

  • It is recommended that you take a taxi from the Bangkok International Suvarnabhumi Airport to Thamkrabok.  A taxi will cost about 1,500 – 2,000 Thai Baht (you might check and agree on the fare with the driver before getting into the taxi).
    • Go to the Public Taxi Desk on Level 1 (Ground Floor)
    • Show the attached TAXI-DIRECTIONS (in Thai and English)
    • Ask “How much” to Thamkrabok?
    • The cost should be about 2,000 Thai Baht which you pay to the driver on arrival at your destination – Wat Thamkrabok.
    • You might be asked to pay 60 Baht airport surcharge and 70 Thai Baht Express Way fees.  This is normal, so have some small change handy.
  • It is possible to catch the Bangkok Airport Shuttle Bus to the Public Transportation Center & Bus Terminal then take bus no. 554 or 555 bus to Rangsit.  From Rangsit catch a bus bound for Lopburi via Phra Phutthabat. Ask the driver to stop at Thamkrabok (which is before the bus gets to Phra Phutthabat). The journey takes between 2 and 3 hours. Costs: about 150 Thai Baht.
  • The attached picture directions page can be printed and shown to taxi drivers or bus conductors etc and may help you to reach the Monastery without any detours.

Directions from Don Mueang (DMK) Bangkok International Airport:

  • It is recommended that you take a taxi from the Bangkok International Don Mueang Airport to Thamkrabok.  A taxi will cost about 1,500 – 2,000 Thai Baht (you might check and agree on the fare with the driver before getting into the taxi).
    • Go to the Public Taxi stand outside of the Arrivals Hall.
    • Show the attached TAXI-DIRECTIONS (in Thai and English)
    • Ask “How much” to Thamkrabok?
    • The cost should be about 1,500 – 2,000 Thai Baht which you pay to the driver on arrival at your destination – Wat Thamkrabok.

Bus Directions from Bangkok City:

  • From Bangkok’s Mawchit bus station there is a bus to Lopburi, (which also stops near the Don Muang airport). Ask the driver to stop at Thamkrabok (which is before the bus gets to Phraphutthabat).      The journey takes between 2 and 3 hours. Costs: about 150 Baht
  • The bus stops right beside the entrance to the monastery.  From the entrance, you will go straight on and then turn right. The walk to the reception will take you about 10 minutes.  Sometimes there is a small taxi, which will bring you there for 25 Baht.

Train Directions from Bangkok City:

  • From Hua Lamphong (Bangkok Central Railway Station) you can catch a train to Saraburi.  In Saraburi, you must change to the bus to Lopburi.  The bus station is nearby. The bus-ride between Saraburi and Wat Thamkrabok takes about 20 minutes. Costs: about 75 Baht.
  • The bus stops right beside the entrance to the Temple.  From the entrance, you will go straight on and then turn right.  The walk to the reception will take you about 10 minutes.  Sometimes there is a small taxi, which will bring you there for 25 Baht.
