Newsletters, Online Events and Next Year’s Schedule
I am offering this invitation to sign-up to a new automated – but very occasional – Newsletter to all the many, many email addresses of individuals and organisations that were previously stored on too many disparate and unmanageable sources including feedback forms, spreadsheets, and odd scraps of paper!
From this point on, I will only be sending the Hungry Ghost Retreats Newsletter to registered email addresses:
It goes without saying that your email address will remain safe; and only be used for the Hungry Ghost Retreats Newsletter. It’s a double opt-in process; and you can unsubscribe at any time with a single simple opt-out option.
The primary reason for updating and automating the ‘Hungry Ghost’ Retreats email list at this time is to let you known about a new initiative being offered by the World Wide Insight organisation; the online channel Healing & Insight: Buddhist Health and Wellness dharma teachings.
“This new live online channel will explore the sharp end of suffering – including addiction in its broadest sense, depression, physical and mental pain, and stress – through the lens of the Buddhist teachings.”
The Healing & Insight project kicks off on Saturday 2nd January with co-author of ‘Eight Step Recovery: Using the Buddha’s Teachings to Overcome Addiction‘ Valerie Mason-John. The following Saturday, Kevin Griffin, teacher and leader in the mindful recovery movement will take the virtual cushion. Kevin is the author of several recovery books including the seminal work ‘One Breath at a Time: Buddhism & the 12 Steps‘. On Saturday 12th March, our virtual teacher will be Jon Kabat-Zinn, the creator of the highly successful, clinically proven Mindfulness-based stress reduction programme (MBSR) that is offered by medical centres, hospitals, and health maintenance organisations worldwide.
There are over 40 teachers taking part; all with very different backgrounds but united through their contact with Buddhism and the practice of presence, investigation and care when looking at and dealing with life’s difficulties. I will be teaching on Saturday 23rd January.
If you are interested, an introductory video can be viewed on YouTube…
…there is also a PDF flyer containing further details of what is being offered.
Having said all of that, there is a supplementary reason for this post at this time; and that is to let you know that the ‘Hungry Ghost’ retreat schedule for 2016 is now available.
In 2016, there will be a mixture of 1 day, 5 day and 6 day Mindful Wholehearted Recovery retreats in England, Ireland and Thailand.
I do hope that you find all or some of this information useful.
Wishing you every success and happiness in the future.
